Question on profit sharing for which I can't find an answer in the NSF
Grants Policy Manual.
Does the NSF reserve a right to a share of any profits that result
from research they have sponsored? We have 2 professors that are
getting involved in for-profit side operations based on work that was
initially sponsored by NSF. One is producing a textbook from work
funded by a curriculum development grant. The other has been
supported in developing 3-D video animations for introductory science
courses.
I didn't find the index to the Grants Policy Manual very helpful and
NSF hasn't returned my call. How have other institutions handled
this?
