SRA Annual Meeting in Seattle 15 - 19 October 1994 Lorraine Ford 12 Oct 1994 05:03 EST

I shall be attending the SRA Annual Meeting in Seattle later this month, and
after the meeting shall have some time for mooching around or making visits.

If anyone works for a university or research centre based in Seattle (or
somewhere nearby with an easy public transport link) and has the time/energy
to spend an hour or so showing me how their Research Administration set-up
works I should be really pleased to know.

Speaking as someone who is new to this particular game (I deal with
international research projects at Brunel University, a primarily scientific
and technological university based in West London) I am keen to find out how
other people deal with the myriad problems and issues I'm discovering. The
North American experience of this kind of activity is no doubt different to
the UK version in some respects, but looking at the issues which are
discussed on this network, it seems we still have a lot in common! Although
I'm keen to find out what delights Seattle itself has to offer, it seems a
shame to go that far across the world and then not be able to see the real
thing American-style in action!

Thanks for your attention. If anyone can offer some time, you can reply
directly to me at:
