Re: Extra Pay, Overload or Supplemental Pay

For public institutions in the State of South Carolina, the State specifies
that a faculty member on a 9 month contract may earn no more than 30% of
his her base salary in additional compensation during that 9-month period.
During the summer, per state guidelines, a 9-month faculty member may earn
up to 30% of his/her **annualized** salary. However, because of budgetary
constraints and some other history that I have yet to uncover, the College
of Charleston has placed a limit on summer compensation for 9-month faculty
members at 30% of the base (i.e., 9-month) pay.
