As long as the data tabulations and analyses are new and not a part of the orig
inal proposal, the work would constitute a "new" project building on the data c
ollected from the R01 project. Therefore, it would not be considered program in
come. A clearly written contract or grant executed between the U and the compan
y would be proper. We did several of these while I was at Michigan State.
