Marquette Univesity returns 20% of the actual indirect cost "earned" from a
grant or a contract.  The funds are returned to the Dean or Director for the
academic unit receiving the grant/contract.  Each Dean or Director is able to
establish how the funds will be distributed.  How much for the Dean/Director,
how much for the Chair; and how much for the PI.  The PI usually gets about
1/3.  The funds are placed in a "restricted, non-lapsing" account which may be
used at the discretion of the account holder (Dean/Director, Chair or PI.)
