SPONSORED PROJECTS OFFICER
Arizona State University is a rapidly growing multi-campus public "Research
I" institution with 40,000+ students. ASU+s sponsored project activity was
$55 million in FY+93.
ASU+s Office of Research and Creative Activities (ORCA) seeks a Sponsored
Projects Officer to work with faculty and University personnel in
identifying external funding sources for research and other projects. The
Officer will report to ORCA+s Director and will work with federal/state
agencies, foundations and industrial firms to locate local, state, national
and international prospective sponsors for customized proposal targeting.
The Officer will assist in proposal development; review budget, business
and compliance issues; develop/negotiate grants and contracts; administer
subsequent awards; advise project directors on financial management issues;
and resolve problems with project directors and sponsors.
The position requires a Bachelor+s degree in a related field and 4+ years
experience in identifying funding sources, developing/negotiating creative
proposals/grants/contracts and in administering current contracts OR any
equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable
knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Prefer knowledge of
research environments, technology, financial analysis and management.
Strong negotiating, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
are a plus. Anticipated salary range: $31,000 - $34,100, DOE.
