Grantsmanship Rebecca Osborne 11 Jul 1994 10:09 EST

Hi - I'm new to the group and in the planning stages of what I hope to be
my first grant. I read the archived files this weekend and learned a
great deal. I never had _any_ idea what the folks in our Office of
Sponsored Projects really did - until now. I expect mainly to just
listen in and keep learning.

I do have one question - What do you know, good and bad, about the
Grantsmanship Seminar?

I've heard that it is an intense one week seminar in which the
participants spend the week working on their own grant. After
registering for the seminar the participants receive a pre-seminar
package explaining what the person needs to have ready before the
seminar. The cost is $600. The group is out of California. Apparently
they give the seminar all over the country.

I'm just finishing my doctoral degree. Hoping for funding, to begin next
fall, to support a 3 to 4 year project in higher education -- $300,000
range. It has both a service and research focus.

Thanks for your thoughts. If there is a better place for me to ask this
type of question I'd appreciate knowing where -- I realize I'm not at the
"administration" stage yet and this question may be outside of the main
intent of this group.
