Awhile back Dan Snyder requested some info on how we all report
to PIs - I neglected to answer and I do not recall if anyone
else did..
1. What is the name and size of your organization?
Health Research Inc. We receive $108 million in grant/contract funding annually
(we manage sponsored funds for the New York State Department of Health)
2. How often do PIs receive financial reports?
Our PIs receive MONTHLY financial reports called an Account Expenditure
Summary (AES). This is generated off a mainframe system which is real
time, so if PIs want more specific information at any time of the month
they can contact this office and get a print out of their account
balances, outstanding POs etc...
3. DO PIs have access to financial data on their projects via computer?
If so, do they see static images of reports, or do they see a database that
they can query?
With the exception of one area which manages several large cooperative
agreements, our PIs are not wired into our system. The area that
is wired in has access to view their accounts only, but no "query"
Also, we have a SYBASE database into which we download all of our
mainframe data on a bi-weekly basis to allow us greater query flexibility
than is offered by our mainframe. From this system we can create
custom reports as of the latest download.
Dan, sorry it took so long to respond.
Did you get any other responses directly? If so, would you share
them with the group?
Thanks
