Our hospital recently initiated a series of collaborations with GM's
Research Institute. Har copy profiles were circulated at both institutions
(electronic methods were not yet online). Several matches were made, but I
believe this is a special circumstance. In my experience, most
collaborations have been made via the investigators' contacts. There may a
place for developing interest databases, but it will be the investigators
who will determine whether this is a cost effective mechanism.
