We gave our own grant writing workshop at Beth Israel Hospital during the
summer.  It was well attended and one of the best received portions of
our program was the section on Peer Review.  It was given by a Prof. (who
happens to be my boss) who had sat on study sections.  We actually used
publications from NIH for the slide presentation.  Although it would be
extremely helpful to bring in outside speakers/professional grant
writers, we were subject to cost containment and felt that our own staff
could give the type of presentations that would be most useful for our
