Research Administrator

Responsibilities:   Primarily responsible for post-award services to a
designated faculty constituency, including preparation of small
business subcontracting plans, contract negotiation, preparation of
subcontracts, interpretation of University and agency policies, and
on-going liaison responsibilities with funding agencies.  Provides
assistance and guidance to faculty during the life of an award,
assuring adherence to University and agency procedures and
requirements.  Works closely with research accounting staff to assure
coordination of accounting and project administration functions.
Collects and analyzes data, assists in the preparation of reports and
publications, and develops and participates in training sessions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:   Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree
preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and
experience.  Demonstrated knowledge of government regulations,
industry practices, and university policy regarding sponsored projects.
 A minimum five years previous work experience in the administration
of sponsored research at an educational institution, in the Federal
Government, or at some other entity engaged in sponsored research .
 Experience negotiating government and industrial contracts is
required.  Should have working knowledge of FAR clauses applicable
to agreements with educational institutions.  Skill in dealing with
others in work relationships involving conflict resolution, and the
ability to make difficult decisions is essential.  Proficiency with word
processing and spreadsheet software is expected.  Excellent oral and
written communication skills and the ability to work efficiently and
effectively under deadline pressures is critical.  Strong service
orientation is necessary.
