We are bumping into a similar situation with a professor who is retiring and
will finishing up an NEH grant.  We expect to inform NEH that she will be
retiring before the grant ends (a gap of about two months), but that we would
all expect that she can remain the PI for that period.  The PI policy here at
Rutgers allows for "others" to be listed as the PI on the grant as long as it
is approved by the chair and the dean.  We do not expect to have any problem.
