Email list hosting service & mailing list manager

Joyce Huston's message Liz Mazzella 12 May 1994 16:41 EST

Joyce recently re-posted a message indicating she had given the
wrong e-mail address for response. Remember, when responding
to RESADM-L items, in order for everyone to share in the info,
it is important to send your responses to xxxxxx@ALBNYDH2.BITNET--
not to the individual sender. Granted, at times a response to
one individual may be warranted, but in general responding to
the list is the best bet.

We are well over 250 members now and growing every day, so a few
reminders:

Unless you are specifically configured to do so, PLEASE do not use
the REPLY function of your e-mail as this can confuse the listserver
because the message you are replying to gets appended in its entirety
and the listserve sees 2 TO: fields and 2 FROM: fields and gets
all confused, flustered and annoyed and responds by sending me
an error message. Also, appending entire text of previous messages
can make for some hefty e mail notes. Try to use the same subject
line and selectively include snippets from the previous message if
necessary.

If you are posting a job opportunity --which we discussed a while
back and decided was appropriate for this forum, make sure that you
indicate JOB POSTING in the subject line, so that those not in the
job seeking mode can easily discard them.

If you go away for an extended period of time,--even a couple of days,
PLEASE send a "set RESADM-L nomail" command to the xxxxxx@ALBNYDH2.BITNET
this will suspend your subscription while you are gone and will prevent
your mailbox from filling (this is a busy list!)If your box fills
your mail will bounce back to yours truly. Once I get three
bounces or errors, I will delete you from the List --you can
resubscribe once the technical problem on your end is solved, but with
a list this big, I have no choice but to delete you if you are generating
errors repeatedly. Remember, if you set nomail, when you return,
send a "Set RESADM-L mail" command to the xxxxxx@albnydh2.bitnet
when you return.

I will post some info shortly on searching the RESADM-L for old
notes on specific topics (as soon as I make sure I understand
how it works myself)

So far the info flowing on this list has been well worth the time
I have invested in getting it started -- I hope you all agree.

Thanks!

:-)
