Re Rebecca Bacon's query--our grants office provides editing as well as a
variety of other services. Our
charge is to increase the number of proposals going out the door, so we do
whatever has to be done to
facilitate the writing and submission of proposals: contact funding sources,
brainstorm ideas, edit drafts,
write budgets, write descriptions of the campus or institution, obtain
institutional signatures, xerox and mail
proposals, and so on. We also write some proposals which affect the
institution as a whole.
Some faculty prefer to do it all themselves, others are incredibly grateful to
have any assistance we can
provide. We find it works best if we offer a range of services and let faculty
pick the ones they would like
to use. In other words, we try to portray ourselves as a support office, not
as a roadblock.
