SPONSORED PROGRAM SPECIALIST

Responsibilities:  Responsible for sponsored project administration
including proposal review and submission, contract negotiation,
subcontract preparation, and post-award administration through
closeout for a select constituency.  Works closely with the Managing
Director on special assignments such as assessing funding trends,
preparing special analyses and reports for central administration and
external sponsors, researching and helping to resolve problems, and
developing training sessions for principal investigators and
administrative staff.  Participates in the development and
implementation of new policis and revisions to existing policies.
Serves as a resource to ORSP staff in contract review and
negotiation.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree
preferred or equivalent combination of education, training and
experience.  Knowledge of Government grant and contract
administration, practices relating to the protection of intellectual
property rights, and principles for educational institutions is expected.
Previous work experience (at least five years) must have been in the
administration of sponsored research at an educational institution, in
the Federal Government, or at some other entity engaged in
sponsored research.  Experience negotiating government and
industrial contracts is required.  Should have working knowledge of
FAR clauses applicable to agreements with educational institutions.
Knowledge of general management principles and practices, skill in
dealing with others in work relationships involving conflict resolution,
and the ability to make difficult decisions is essential.  Proficiency with
word processing and spreadsheet software is expected.  Excellent
oral and written communication skills and the ability ot work efficiently
and effectively under deadline pressured is critical.  Strong service
orientation is necessary.
