Overview of Position:

The Director Research Grants has overall strategic and operational
responsibility for managing research grant funding for the MaineHealth
system, the largest health system North of Boston.  The Director
collaborates with our Academic Affairs Contracts Office and reports to
the Vice President for Research for MaineHealth. The Director is
responsible for growing a high-functioning, streamlined, compliant and
user-friendly research grants office that minimizes risk to the
institution and facilitates success in research grant funding and
stewardship.  They will lead the grants team in identifying and
communicating about funding opportunities; submitting grant proposals;
negotiating and managing grant-related subcontracts; oversight of
non-accounting post award management throughout the grant life-cycle;
resolving grant management issues and serving as liaison to funders.
The Director directs the creation of grant resources and website
content and provides education and training on grants to MH
investigators, communicating consistently, effectively and
professionally with all stakeholders.

The Director manages research grant staff, and works with others in
leadership on the financial planning process regarding projection of
research grant income. The Director will collaborate with Principal
Investigators, clinical service line leaders, financial planning, IRB,
and others as needed. In addition, the Director creates and maintains
relationships with funder staff, including the National Institutes of
Health (NIH)..
