I am pleased to announce the publication of a special edition of the Journal of Health and Human Experience: Volume 6, Number 2. (http://jhhe.sempervifoundation.org)

This special edition is themed: “From Veterans to Nurses.” It raises up the strong initiatives of various US universities, via federal DHHS/HRSA grants, establishing uniquely gifted programs for military veterans to obtain undergraduate degrees in nursing.

This special edition honors our veterans. It also raises up the powerful ways in which the dedication of our military to “never leave anyone behind” is heroically joined with the mission of nurses as healers. It moves us to celebrate and promote nursing care as human care! A substantive underscoring of the Journal’s dedicated mission from its very founding.

With this being the year of the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale, the WHO declared 2020 as “The Year of the Nurse and Midwife.” Hence, the actual publication date for this special edition is in International Nurses Week of May 6-12, 2020. The uniqueness of this special edition promotes the meaning and message of these critically important events, especially in our time right now.
