JOB SUMMARY:

The Wake Forest Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is a unified research organization designed to provide innovative, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure that accelerates the translation of discoveries to improve health.  The CTSI supports faculty and staff conducting research at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center through the provision of creative tools and services while maintaining the highest standards for conducting safe and ethical research.

Serves as a financial analyst for the Office of Sponsored Programs.  Works with a variety of internal and external customers to ensure that the various tasks are accomplished along continuum for all extramurally funded contracts and grants.  Ensures appropriate reporting and analytics relating a range of sponsored activities from proposals through expenditures. All tasks include analytical thinking and require professional judgment and big picture understanding of the research continuum.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field with five years' experience in finance, accounting or related field. Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred. Experience in sponsored programs or academic research setting preferred. Knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Prepares all Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reports required by Leadership regarding the Sponsor Projects arena.  Preparation includes an in depth understanding of the data and the ability to explain variances of a variety of items.
2. Leads on completion of the OSP section of the BRSA annual report but also provide additional editing and data points for other sections.
3. Completes Ad Hoc reports required for both internal and external customers regarding sponsored project activities including 1. Chair and Center reports; 2. Focus area data; 3.US News and World Report; 4. Various departmental data requests.
4. Provides general supervision of the OSP Financial Analyst role, which includes having a working knowledge of all aspects of this position?s responsibilities including but not limited to: 1. NIH Letter of Credit Draw process; 2. Effort reporting; 3. FFATA reporting; 4. Small Business reports; 5. Equipment reports; 6. Sub recipient monitoring.
5. Serves as lead liaison with Financial Services for Audit related questions and F&A preparation via data requests.
6. Assists with other projects that require dedicated attention such as requests for reports or other data gathering activities.  Works in conjunction with the Assistant Dean for Research and other Academic Medical Center administration.
7. Understands industry trends, network with colleagues at other institutions, and evaluates the impact of operating initiatives on the academic mission.
8. Assists with the maintenance and organization of information on the web site especially in regards to metrics but also for grants management policies, procedures, tools and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
9. Cross trains on other functions within the grants continuum required to ensure full understanding of the impact of this role as well as back up functionality as needed.
10. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Strong customer service/interpersonal skills with a proven work history showing competence in this area
Ability to work as part of a team in a complex, fast-paced environment
