I'm with you, Molly! Dun and Bradstreet once gave our DUNS to another entity simply because the other party asked; they didn't require any approval or acknowledgment from our institution at all. I then had to go through a ridiculous process to get it back. They've been on my suspect list ever since. Good riddance.

Still no updates on the NIH salary cap, but this memo was just released about the DUNS# being transitioned to a new unique identifier called the SAMMI:

It may be a long transition but not too early to celebrate the departure of Dun and Bradstreet from grants administration. I have had my share of frustration with their “service” and am supremely happy that I have apparently outlasted the use of DUNS numbers in our world. I may even open a bottle of champagne over this one.
