Salary Range: $48,500 - $51,500 annually

Position Information:  Provide professional staff support with sponsored program activities to include the preparation of grant, contract, and subcontract proposals, as well as the creation, negotiation and execution of research, training, and service contracts.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1. Pre-award Administration - Prepare and review proposals for University signature and submission to federal, state, and local government agencies, private companies, and foundations; advise faculty and department staff in aspects of proposal preparation, including budgets and compliance with federal, state, and University guidelines; review and interpret sponsor solicitations.
2. Contract Preparation and Negotiation - Assist the Director of Sponsored Programs in the preparation and negotiation of research, training, and service contracts with other public and private institutions.
3. Report Preparation - Assist with the preparation and review of reports other than fiscal reports to the awarding agency as required.  Coordinate preparation of annual and final progress reports per sponsor guidelines.
4. Communication/Correspondence - Respond to inquiries from research faculty, staff, financial officers, and other departments concerning the interpretation of the provisions of awards.  Respond to requests from awarding agencies for information related to proposals and externally funded grants and contracts.  Prepare paperwork and draft correspondence for the negotiation/acceptance of grants and contract terms and conditions, modifications, extensions, and related administrative matters. Serve as liaison to sponsors over the life of the project.
5. As Needed - Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education:  Bachelor's Degree in business related field.
Equivalent/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
Department Preferences: Experience working with grants and/or contracts in a higher education, non-profit, or research environment.

Skills:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Knowledge of databases and resources related to funding opportunity dissemination
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
• Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
• Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in an academic-oriented environment.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet inflexible deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
