Hi Tracy
Several years ago we decided to go the federally-approved, pooled fringe benefit route. We engaged Maximus the first few years we did this, but now our Controller's Office completes and submits the rate proposal. We were very happy with Maximus and the pooled rate works out well for us.
We didn't have many challenges, but keep in mind that the rates have to be reviewed against actuals each year, and an over-under recovery has to be built into the next year's rate proposal.

Subject: [RESADM-L] aggregate fringe?
Greetings RA friends!
My institution (a PUI) is interested in securing a federally approved aggregate fringe rate for sponsored projects. We currently secure and use actual/individual fringe rates for each employee included in a grant budget. Has anyone, by chance, gone through this process and managed the change process? What consultant did you use? would you recommend them?
What were the challenges? Any and ALL information you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
thank you in advance!
