New PCORI funding for low back pain studies James Hulbert 27 Mar 2016 18:59 EST

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) will be releasing a new funding announcement titled, “Comparison of Surgical and Non-Surgical Options for Management of Chronic Non-Specific Low Back Pain.”

The goal of this announcement is to support patient-centered comparative effectiveness research that addresses questions about the effectiveness of lumbar fusion versus optimized, multidisciplinary non-surgical approaches.

Up to $22 million in direct costs will be available to support 1-2 studies in this area. Maximum direct cost budget not to exceed $15 million for up to 5 years.
