Director - Grants and Contracts Administration The purpose of the department is to work with investigators to submit proposals to obtain research funding and manage awards resulting from these proposals. The essential purpose of the position is to manage the Pre-Award and Grants and Contracts groups in the Office of Research Administration and to ensure that all research funding adheres to the Board of Trustees, campus and sponsor policies. Essential job duties include: -Manage the Pre-award and Grants & Contracts groups in the Office of Research Administration -Review and Negotiate awards and agreements for research funding. -Establish and implement guidelines and procedures for management of research funding. -Analyze reports of research funding -Identify funding opportunities (for individual faculty and cluster groups and centers) -Participate with other Directors under the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, meet with senior management, and participate in campus committees -Organize and present workshops and seminars (to train faculty and research staff and to assist investigators in obtaining funding for their research) Minimum Qualifications: -Bachelor's Degree plus at least 8-10 years experience in Grant Administration and proposal review with progressive management and supervisory responsibilities -Extensive knowledge of federal, state and general funding agency rules and regulations -The ability to work effectively with diverse groups -Extensive knowledge of Uniform Guidance Other Considerations: -Excellent negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills -Ability to work under pressure with constantly changing priorities and deadlines -Ability to work effectively with a variety of constituencies -Excellent professional written and verbal skills Quicklink for Posting: jobs.uml.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=54914 Executive Director - Office of Research Administration The Office of Research Administration (ORA) consists of both pre-award grants and contracts management and post-award grants management and research accounting. The Executive Director provides oversight and direction for both pre-award activities and post-award accounting and compliance activities to ensure an effective sponsored grants management program. Responsible for ensuring effective administration of the University's sponsored research portfolio and supporting faculty researchers. This position will lead the Office of Research Administration and oversees the development of terms compatible with University policies as well as the management and monitoring of research proposal submission and research spending and activities to ensure compliance with sponsor terms, University policies and federal regulations and requirements. The Executive Director ensures accurate financial reporting on sponsored activities. Collaborates with the Director of Institutional Compliance regarding human subject research, export controls, conflict of interest and financial compliance, the Director of the Office of Technology Commercialization on intellectual property related terms in sponsored research agreements and the Director of the UMass Innovation Institute on strategic industry agreements.
