Brown University is seeking qualified candidates for a position in the central Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP)
Position Description
Associate Director, Pre-Award Services is an authorized signatory for the University and is responsible for oversight of workflow and business improvement processes related to proposal review and submission; negotiation and acceptance of external awards; issuance of subcontracts; and addressing issues arising during the life of a sponsored project. Reporting to the Director of the Office of Sponsored Projects, the incumbent works collaboratively on matters related to training and communication, supervision of staff, customer satisfaction and service.
The Associate Director serves as a resource for all levels of faculty and staff on University and sponsor research policies, S/he represents OSP/Office of the Vice President for Research on University and external research administration committees, which may include participation in regional and national forums as well as Agency site visits to campus.
Required Qualifications include but are not limited to:
• Bachelor’s Degree required with a minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible research administration experience preferably in a university or academic medical research setting. Advanced degree (e.g., J.D. or MBA) preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in recruiting, retaining, training and managing staff. Supervisory experience required.
• Must have significant depth and knowledge in research administration topics, including proposal process and requirements, familiarity with academic policies related to federal and nonfederal contracts, the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards at 2 CFR 200, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
