Dara,

I would let your senior leadership know that even they and the
sponsored programs units of universities are not immune from receiving
spam. They should trust that you are aware of, and have access to
(within your budget) all appropriate sources of information.

Funny you mention this. Our President received this notice as well and
just sent it to us to do what we felt appropriate with it. As you
said,
the information provided is similar to the other resources we already
subscribe to so we're not investing much time on this one.

Good morning,

Our institution’s president has been receiving “funding alerts”
from
xxxxxx@grantwriters.net. I’m not familiar with the vendor, nor
with
the dozens of other sources already out there competing for scarce
resources, am interested in pursuing another. But, what annoys me is:
by
contacting the leadership of the university (and not the SRO), it
places
the SRO and VP for Research in a position of having to defend why
we’re
not on top of this “valuable resource,” and having to drop
whatever
we’re doing in order to investigate each one of the solicitations.
So
far, none have really been a good fit for some of our faculty, and
they
are the same sorts of information—grants.gov—that we are already
receiving from various other sources. I’m curious if anyone else
knows
anything about them.

The blurb on the bottom of the email reads:
