Re: Effort Certification Question

Faculty and staff initially sign-off/certify their distribution of
effort. If there is a change (from their perspective) they note the
change. My office – Sponsored Programs – is charged with verifying
the change. In cases where the changed distribution is correct, we would
implement the appropriate adjustment. In cases where the changed
distribution is incorrect, we resolve the differences with the
individual and have them resign a correct/corrected effort
certification.
For us, the key point in time is when there is agreement that the
distribution is correct, not when the actual adjustment is processed –
also a responsibility of my office.

2) after the corrections are posted to the financials.
If the effort is certified before the corrections are posted to the
financials who is responsible for making sure the corrections are
posted; Department, Research Office, Other
I appreciate hearing from you!
