POSITION TITLE:	Compliance Specialist

RESPONSIBILITIES:	The incumbent will work with the Research Compliance Officer and provide assistance, training, and consultation to researchers and the rest of UMBC’s research community as well as assists with the oversight and monitoring of UMBC’s research compliance program. Specific duties include: interfacing with other services within the Office for Research Administration, including the Office for Sponsored Programs, Office of Technology Development as well as across the university, such as Environmental Safety and Health; managing processes related to research compliance; monitoring activities and operational reporting; adhering to institutional policies and procedures; participating in professional trainings, workshops and seminars related to research compliance administration; preparing presentation materials for educational programs to the UMBC community on regulatory and ethical compliance in research; and performing other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:	Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in research compliance or related area. A Master’s degree may be substituted for the required experience. Must possess current content knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to research compliance. The ability to interpret and apply research compliance regulations and the ability to develop best-practices for continuous quality improvement of the program are required. The ability to work within a team and excellent communication skills to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and research from a variety of diverse backgrounds are a must.

SALARY:	Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
