Senior Grants / Contracts Administrator - Wake Forest University Health Sciences Under administrative review, independently serves as liaison for the Office of Research with departments and external funding agencies for grant and contract applications. Provides for accurate and timely pre- and post-award management of grants, contracts and subcontracts. A Senior Grants & Contracts Administrator takes on additional responsibility in a focused area above and beyond the duties described herein. The specific focused area may include, but may not be limited to, providing support and training for electronic research administration, generating and analyzing reports related to sponsored research activities using multiple databases and resources, or managing complex government contracts and sub-contracts. CHARACTERISTIC WORK 1. Facilitate grant and/or contract submission by providing training and guidance to faculty members and department administrators. This includes preparation of applications, institutional requirements and administrative processes. 2. Independently manage a large caseload assignment, including coordinating complex and atypical sponsor requests and managing departments submitting large amounts of proposals. 3. Provide instruction and guidance to other grants/contracts staff. Review the work of others to ensure activities are completed correctly and timely. 4. Review and recommend approval of sponsored research agreements and sub-awards, managing negotiation consistent with institutional policy and expectations. Exercises institutionally responsible independent judgment in the administration of typical and atypical sponsored research agreements. 5. Maintain thorough knowledge of federal costing guidelines and able to determine applicability to proposals and rebudgeting requests. 6. Maintain working knowledge of terms and conditions, OMB Circulars, and other guidelines. Apply knowledge regarding how circulars and guidelines apply and determine appropriate course of action. 7. Prepare and provide training for faculty and department administrators. 8. Provide technical advice regarding administrative and financial aspects of proposals, budget, budget justification, subcontracting, consortia, indirect cost rates, fringe benefit rates, etc to investigators and administrators. 9. Suggest and draft departmental policies and procedures related to grant proposals and awards. 10. Develop departmental resources to assist departments and investigators in the submission of proposals and administration of awards, as well as the InfoEd Grants Management System. 11. Maintain complete electronic and paper file records. 12. Complete special projects as assigned. Analyze information and make recommendations. 13. Enhance investigator and administrator understanding of the available options to accomplish objectives. Coach and educate investigators and administrators regarding options. 14. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
