The Office for Sponsored Programs, the centralized research administration office for the University of Connecticut, is seeking energetic, career-minded self-starters to join our professional research administration team in providing services and oversight in support of the University's sponsored project and research activity.
Candidates are encouraged to apply who have grant lifecycle or translatable financial/accounting experience. Representative duties will include provision of guidance and technical assistance to researchers in the development/revision of budgets, review and submission of sponsored research proposals, management and oversight of grant-related expenditures, billing and reporting obligations; preparation of grant closeouts; resolution of financial discrepancies. Serves as University liaison with research sponsors; performs related tasks as requested or required. The full description for this position can be found at http://www.osp.uconn.edu/.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting or an appropriate field and four years of relevant experience, or eight years of recent relevant experience; experience working with federal and state laws and regulations; excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated experience working with budgets and financial transactions, including preparation of financial reports; effective time management and organizational skills; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment; proficiency with business technology, web and Internet applications, including fax, email, spreadsheets, databases and word-processing; sensitivity and flexibility to ensure that deadlines are consistently met.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; prior training or experience working with faculty in higher education and/or in research administration; knowledge of GAAP, Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification; knowledge of current trends and developments in research administration; experience using an electronic research administration system and/or financial systems.
