Posted Rate of Pay $36,915 - $52,000 per year; DOE Duties and Responsibilities Under administrative direction, performs sponsored project unit role and work of considerable difficulty in interfacing with department/unit faculty to develop for submission funding proposals to various federal and state agencies, foundations and industrial firms. Assists in identifying funding opportunities that support departmental/unit research goals. Partners with Principal Investigator's and the Office for Research & Sponsored Projects Administration (ORSPA) to negotiate grants and contracts and assists ORSPA with administration of unit awards. Advises Project Directors on financial management issues, and when appropriate resolves complex problems with Project Directors, internal offices, and sponsors. - Works closely with departmental/unit faculty to develop and prepare proposals which includes, but is not limited to, assistance in developing and reviewing proposed budgets and maintaining general familiarity with federal grant and contract regulations, as well as private sponsor and state requirements. - Works with department/unit faculty to resolve administrative issues such as conflict of interest, allow ability of proposed costs, intellectual property, cost sharing, subcontracting, etc. in regards to sponsored projects. - Completes sponsor proposal forms and documents based in accordance with program solicitation or guidelines for faculty sponsored project submissions to ORSPA for review and submission to sponsor. - Provides guidance to faculty regarding solicitation guidelines and reviews proposals for conformity with guidelines. - Assist Principal Investigator's (PIs) in reviewing and analyzing awards for compliance with respect to appropriate federal, state, Board of Regents & University policy & regulations in parallel with ORSPA's review prior to ORSPA's signing/acceptance of award. - Advises and instructs department/unit faculty & staff with concerns regarding proposal development to assure compliance with appropriate federal, state, Board of Regents and University policy and regulations; including but not limited to, grant administration; sponsor interests; grantsmanship and other related topics. - Provides a supportive environment to assist in increasing the number and frequency of proposal submissions; performs outreach activities to cultivate the interests of faculty not presently involved in the search for financial support for their graduate students and academic areas of interest. - Provides reports to department/unit chair regarding sponsored activity (proposals, awards, expenditures). - Assists Chair and Project Directors and/or Principal Investigators in sponsor regulatory and compliance requirements. - Provides administrative support to ORSPA in negotiating problem items and unforeseen matters on current awards with sponsors. - Provides a supportive environment to assist in increasing the number and frequency of proposal submissions; performs outreach activities to cultivate the interests of faculty not presently involved in the search for financial support for their graduate students and academic areas of interest. - Aids in departmental/unit aspects of sponsored projects award administration - including but not limited to account reconciliation; allow ability of costs; forecasting expenditures; providing financial reports and supporting ORSPA Accountants. DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration or related field AND three years directly related experience; OR, Seven years directly related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications Evidence of Certified Research Administrator (CRA). Demonstrated knowledge of: policies, procedures and regulations of various funding sources; research methods grants and contracts; computer applications (i.e., Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite); information dissemination technology (i.e., NSF Fastlane, grants.gov, sponsor websites); ASU financial and research management tools (i.e., Advantage, Data Warehouse, PeopleSoft/OASIS, COEUS); financial analysis and management. Experience in: developing and administering grants and contracts; establishing and maintaining effective professional working relationships. Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
