Good point and another detail to follow up on is the original solicitation and what it required. Was it a full faculty fellowship?

To my knowledge, DOD has not had this limitation overall. I worked with a significant number of faculty at my former institution who had numerous awards with different DOD agencies.

I hesitate to mention it, but is the PI 100% committed? No more grants, if so.

Hi Carolyn,

I think the contracting officer is incorrect in this case, but they might be right depending on the type of award your PI received. We have a PI who has several active DOD grants (and continues to apply for more) and we have a PI who was recently recommended for funding for two grants for the same solicitation. The CDMRP help desk has always been responsive to our questions, so you might send them an email or give them a call.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Limits on number of active DoD grants per PI

Does anyone know whether there is a limit on the number of active grants that a PI can have from the DoD? We have a PI with one DoD grant from the Army (Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program) and she is telling us that her USAMRMC officer has advised her that she cannot submit any grant to the DoD until her current project is successfully finished. I can double check directly, of course, but thought I would take the pulse of the group first.

Many thanks.
