Carnegie Mellon University seeks qualified candidates for the following position ASSOCIATE VICE PROVOST OF SPONSORED PROGRAMS Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Vice Provost of Sponsored Programs (AVPSP). CMU, a top-ranked global research university, has been a thought leader throughout its 112-year history and is recognized for its world-class arts and technology programs, collaboration across disciplines and innovative leadership in education. The University seeks a new leader to support its faculty members and students with a wide range of programs and services designed to translate their emerging ideas into funded projects. The AVPSP will develop an operating structure that ensures the efficient and effective delivery of funded program support services with duties such as approving research budgets and collaborative arrangements, negotiating and developing awards and contracts, maintaining appropriate compliance with government regulations in proposal and project development, and facilitating and managing other steps in the research and funded program development process. Reporting to the Vice President for Research, the AVPSP is a senior administrative officer at CMU and will promote and support excellence of research and other sponsored programs across the University. S/he will be responsible for support of proposal development, efficient and careful proposal processing, efficient and careful contract negotiation, and management of compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The AVPSP will represent CMU to government, industrial, and foundation sponsors at all levels in proposal, pre-award, and compliance. The AVPSP will modify and implement systems as needed to ensure that Carnegie Mellon maintains a world-class sponsored programs administrative operation. Successful candidates will have a strong record of involvement with research administration, thorough knowledge of the operations and practices of a comprehensive research-oriented university, and proven administrative success.
