Re: S2S Submissions and SSL Certificates

Hello Kathleen,
In regards to S2S submissions, the SSL certificate is usually issued by a third party which in our case is Incommon which has a deal thru the CSU system. The SSL is really tied to the individual server and in our case since we are on the university network our server has an sdsu.edu extension. What is important is that the certificate is registered with Grants.gov. For the registration we use the SDSU Research Foundation's DUNS number. As far as NIH submissions go, again we use the SDSU Research Foundation's DUNS number but our EIN number is pre populated on the SF424(R&R) form by our S2S software. The reason for this was an organizational decision made eons ago. Hope this helps.

Subject: [RESADM-L] S2S Submissions and SSL Certificates
Happy thanksgiving, everyone.
We are in the process of implementing ERA's Grants Management System at Kennesaw State University and I have a few questions about SSL certificates.
For those of you at universities with research foundations, do you have a separate SSL certificate for your university and your research foundation? Or are you able to use the same certificate for both?
When we submit NIH proposals, we submit under the university DUNS number and the foundation's EIN. Do any other universities submit this way? If so, how do you handle S2S submissions?
Thank you in advance for your help!
