TRAINING SPECIALIST

OFFICE OF SPONSORED PROJECTS

The Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP), located in Arlington, Virginia (Washington DC area) is recruiting for a full-time Training Specialist. Note that this is not a Federal position, and that the salary range for the position (Grade IS-9) is $51,630-$67,114, with the hiring range anticipated to be $51,630 to $58,511. This position includes eligibility for the TIAA-CREF retirement program, as well as full health and related benefits.

Duties include:

*identify training needs and develop curriculum materials in coordination with OSP staff

*Conduct outreach to staff, including marketing of training programs

*Organize training logistics and assist with delivery of training

*Administration, reporting and professional development

Desired skills/expertise:

*Knowledge of a highly trained specialist in the field of curriculum and instruction principles and practices, including online training delivery.

*Knowledge of sponsored project/research administration theories, principles and practices, including proposal and budget development, funding resources, research compliance, audit issues, financial and administrative management of grants and contracts.

*Excellent oral, written and presentation/teaching skills.

*Experience with (or willing to learn) website and electronic media to promote training opportunities.

*Certification as a Research Administrator (CRA) is a plus but not required.
