Laura,

Might I suggest that if you have a departmental administrator that shows some promise you could bring them into your office for the duration of the leave. This would provide some additional training to the person and make them more valuable to both you and the department in the long term.

Hello Laura.  Our director was a consultant for Huron and spent a good deal of time at universities for just that reason.  I have also worked with Huron consultants in the past year on a software project and I have been very impressed with their work.
