Hmmm. I know that our institution requires that items be delivered to the
university, so without a very good reason for why they were sent to the
PI's home, these costs would not be allowed. We did have a PI who ordered
some materials for a workshop that was to be held over Christmas break and
since he didn't order them soon enough .... he had them shipped to his
house. Once he explained, business services allowed the expenses.

Usually you must follow your institution's regs, regardless of the source
of funding. Also, normally these purchases would be made on a p-card and
some items must be pre-approved. Here again, you should follow your
institution's regs.

Well...... not to sound suspicious, but why were the items not purchased
using the universitiy's purchase card and delivered to the PI's university
address?

Subject: [RESADM-L] Grant Reimbursement

Greetings!

For faculty with external grant funds, can you tell me if your institution
prohibits making a reimbursement made on a personal credit card? For
example, books or a digital camera related to the research was purchased
on Amazon and delivered to the PI's home. Invoice was submitted and denied
because it was not delivered to institution and did not go through the
purchase order process.

Thank you,
