Job Summary Under the direction of and reporting to the Administrator and Director of Program Development, and with considerable latitude for exercising discretion and judgment, independently lead the end-to-end predoctoral and postdoctoral training grant process at the Yale University School of Public Health (YSPH). Provide expert program and grant management leadership to faculty with training type grants while providing comprehensive pre- and post-award grant management support including proposal development, post award maintenance, reporting and metrics. Provide high levels of client satisfaction through strong relationship management efforts. Take a leadership role representing YSPH in the university-wide effort to streamline and operationalize training grant table repository and centralized post-doctoral fellow application process for data capture.

Principal Responsibilities
 1. Serve as a primary expert on training grant regulations and procedures for YSPH, including federal, non-federal and private sponsors, both foreign and domestic, by researching regulations and provide interpretations of rules, while serving in the best interest of the School.

2. Responsible for the preparation and submittal of funding proposals in coordination with the faculty, pre-award team, the office of Financial Administration (OFA), the Grants and Contracts Administration (GCA) and other internal or external offices for timely and accurate submission. Also responsible for trend analysis, slot management and forecasting.

3. In collaboration with the OFA, plan infrastructure and technical services to support training programs across the school. Meet with Principal Investigators, Program Heads and finance staff on a regular basis to discuss financial status, provide trending and forecasting. Work with finance staff in XTrain and CareerTrac on progress reports. Coordinate completion of appointment and termination forms with coordinators, Student Affairs and Faculty Affairs.

4. Supervise support staff and develop and deliver necessary training on training grant processes, requirements and updates.

5. Collaborate with faculty to expand training-related grant applications at the School by supporting proposal writing and identifying new funding opportunities. Work with the YSPH Doctoral Student Office to identify gaps in funding and identify potential training program candidates to fill the gaps.

6. Coordinate with faculty and pre-award team to prepare and submit funding proposals to support the predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees at YSPH.

7. Coordinate with finance staff to provide monthly analysis to award owners, process non-competing continuations, close out awards.

8. Coordinate timely effort reporting and submission of timely payroll changes for faculty and staff.

9. Create financial summaries and forecasts and provide to senior faculty members and to the Associate Dean of Finance and Administrator to help determine budgetary constraints and identify areas of over or under utilization, based upon University and sponsorship guidelines.

10. Serve as Chair of a committee of foreign and domestic training stakeholders to establish and maintain policies and procedures, meeting frequency, relationships and all other areas as required.

11. Perform other related duties including the training and supervision of financial and/or administrative staff.

12. Develop presentations and present findings and results from attendance of Fogarty training grant meetings both at Yale and outside Yale.

13. Create and maintain the YSPH specific tabular data for training grant tables.

14. Centralize and maintain data for training grants at YSPH.

Required Education and Experience
 1. Bachelor's Degree in relevant technical field and four to five years of related technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Education and Experience
1. Pre-award and/or post-award experience with training type grants (T32, D43, R25 ) in a research environment.

Preferred:
1. Master's Degree in Public Health, Management or related field.
2. Working knowledge of University organization; administrative and financial guidelines.
3. Grants and Contracts management experience including knowledge of government grant electronic proposal submission; knowledge of training grant guidelines.
4. Familiarity with complex NIH and other sponsored grant applications.
5. Knowledge of Yale University systems.
6. Familiarity with Hyperion/BrioQuery.
