We are searching for a Manager of Sponsored Projects Administration to join the Colorado Region of Kaiser Permanente. Manager of Sponsored Projects Administration – Colorado Region Provides leadership & direction to Sponsored Projects Administration staff & provides the Institute for Health Research support for grant & contract administration. Maintains knowledge of policies & procedures & performs in accordance w/ applicable regulatory & compliance requirements, external laws & accreditation standards as they relate to Research & Development. Accountable for creating a culture of compliance, ethics & integrity. Maintains knowledge of & assures departmental compliance w/ Kaiser Permanente's Principles of Responsibility & policies & procedures & applicable regulatory requirements & accreditation standards. Responds appropriately to observed fraud or abuse. Essential Functions: • Provides leadership to sponsored projects team by planning & coordinating activities, working w/ customers to prioritize the workload, monitoring performance & improving systems & processes • Responsible for managing all administrative aspects of federal & non-federal grants & contracts • Acts as primary liaison for Sponsored Projects Administration to the IHR, regional & interregional KP offices; federal, state & private funding agencies; outside consultants, contractors & collaborating academic & other institutions for the KPCO region • Provides consultation to KPCO investigators regarding research proposal development, submission & execution • Ensures appropriate information, reports & legal documentation are provided to meet organization & funding agency requirements & needs • Consistently supports compliance & the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy & confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting w/ ethics & integrity, reporting all non compliance & adhering to applicable federal, state & local laws & regulations, accreditation & licenser requirements (if applicable) & Kaiser Permanente's policies & procedures • Develops and/or revises IHR policies & procedures as they relate to sponsored research projects. Serves on the KPCO Research Policies & Procedures Committee & Research Compliance Committee • Responds to audit requests related to sponsored projects administration • Hires, supervises, coaches, motivates & conducts performance appraisals for assigned staff. Assists staff w/ career development planning & identifying opportunities for growth & development • Ensures accountability of staff in their completion of assigned duties. As necessary, responsible for disciplining & terminating in compliance w/ EEO/AA requirements & personnel policies of the organization • Develops training materials that incorporate all applicable KP policies, local, state & federal laws & regulations & accreditation standards • Partners closely w/ IHR Finance Manager to support project teams in oversight & management of research-related cost centers • Collaborates effectively w/ IHR managers, investigators & directors to achieve organizational objectives. Is a member of the IHR's strategic leadership team • In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives • Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors Basic Qualifications: • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in research administration in a non-profit, hospital, or university health research setting • A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a research administration setting • Federal grant, contract & subcontract administration experience required • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or field relevant to health research • Knowledge of Office of Management & Budget regulations & compliance experience required • Excellent consulting skills • Strong customer service ethic & solution-oriented • Strategic thinker & change agent • Ability to work independently & exercise mature judgment • Excellent communication skills (oral & written) • Ability to work effectively as both a leader of a team & as a member of teams that include senior management, research investigators, and/or institutional leadership • Proficient in general computer skills, including word processing & spreadsheet software.
