Some faculty believe this helps with their tenure evaluation.... (but I agree with the overall statement that if there is not a significant role, what good is it?)

When I see something that's free it's either something I didn't ask for or it's worthless, sort of like a Father-in-law's advice (which is both). If the Co-P has no skin in the game and either isn't being allowed to devote time or just isn't for some reason, it draws a jaundiced eye. Whether it's allowed or not, what good is it?
