Re: Verification of salaries

Our institutional clearance form requires the signature of the PI and
Departmental Chairman. Their signature serves as an attestation that the
salaries listed on the form and within the proposal are accurate. As we
often receive proposals late, we do not have the staff or the time to
review the salary information provided on the proposal. We realize that
we are taking a risk by using this approach; however, it is our current
position and one that I support.

Greetings All,
I'd like to know how other Grants Offices handle salary verification.
In the course of the grant review, is your sponsored programs/grants
office responsible for verifying that the $ amount of salaries (base) is
correct? Or Is that left up to the department before it comes to the
grants office? Or Finance checks it? Basically, how do you know that
the information is correct?
Thanks and Happy Friday,
Marta
