Even if it is not in the fringe rate, I would propose it is not an allocable expense due to the project not benefiting.

Does the “Fringe” include an accrual rate for the “Paid Time Off?” If so, not allowable as you have already allowed for it in the fringe benefit.

Hello! We have a researcher who is leaving our institution and going with the PI to another institution. He has been on this RO1 and his payroll and fringe have been charged to it. He is entitled to be paid out his accrued Paid Time Off. We are wondering if it is allowable to pay this out from the grant? If he had taken the time while he was here, he would have been paid off the grant, so we are thinking it is allowable, but not sure. Thank you for any input.
