The Journal is published by the US Navy Medicine Institute for the Medical Humanities and Research Leadership in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution Scholarly Press. The inaugural edition in PDF is available for download. As pre-arranged, print copies for the inaugural edition are being sent to a limited set. Future subscription possibilities are being explored. The PDF download area is a public domain prototype portal provided at this time by the new US Navy Medicine Veterans and Alumni Association. Through it, NMVAA assists the good works of the Navy Medicine Institute and our Smithsonian Institution Scholarly Press partners. The download portal is found at: http://www.nmvaa.org/nmi/subPage.php?sp=13 With very special thanks to our US Navy Medicine Public Affairs Office, the Journal is also available on the Navy Medicine Issuu Page. This is a very exciting and extremely rich resource for all of us. The Issuu posting is found at: http://issuu.com/navymedicine/docs The inaugural edition and those to follow will lead very soon to prestigious indexing. This is already in process. Upon private previews by higher federal authorities, international academic scholars, and healthcare-related executive professionals in the past month or so, the Journal received immense and very loud praise. All agreed that the new Journal is a portal through which US Navy Medicine is inviting the world to discover anew the humanistic core of patient-centered and family-centered care. With thanks to our distinguished authors, many friends and supporters, and especially the entire 90+ member Journal Editorial Board who contributed untold numbers of hours on an entirely pro bono basis, the Journal is clearly a "servant-leader-in-print" inviting women and men of good will to care more for a wounded world. We all look forward enthusiastically to future editions of the Journal in the coming months and years. Enjoy! Warmest regards, Dr. E. F.
