The University of Maryland, Baltimore, Office of Research and Development, Sponsored Programs Administration, currently has a Manager, Sponsored Programs Administration opportunity available. Under general direction, the selected candidate will coordinate & manage unit-wide externally funded administrative research functions, including development & implementation of management & operational strategies. Will also serve as liaison with university’s department staff & faculty to meet research administration goals & objectives while complying with University, federal, state, & sponsor rules & regulations. Typically reports to the Executive Director, Sponsored Programs Administration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Manage workflow of assigned Sponsored Programs Administrators and Analysts;
· Review grant and contract proposals to all sponsors for compliance with agency policies and procedures, University policies and procedures, and State of Maryland laws;
· Sign grant and contract proposals on behalf of the University;
· Review and negotiate triaged agreements, and obtain signatures before being sent to Sponsor;
· Review and negotiate terms and conditions of all contracts;
· Consult with University Counsel, Office of Technology Transfer and the Commercial and Clinical Trial Team as needed to ensure that contract provisions are appropriate and sufficient;
· Answer questions from faculty/administrators about routing & processing applications & processing proposals;
· Educate faculty and administrators about sponsored programs issues;
· Meet with department or divisions to discuss sponsored programs;
· Review and maintain familiarity with current policies and procedures;
· Research regulations and law related to awards;
· Liaise with funding agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and five (5) years of related administrative experience in the area of research administration, including two (2) years of supervisory experience. Financial disclosure required.
Hiring Range: Commensurate with education and experience (Salary Range $62,500 to $70,000)
