Happy Friday -
I have an issue I've been mulling over and am hoping some of you have
opinions for me.
One of our scientists recently left to go work in private industry at a
large pharmaceutical company. He retains PRN status here, and would
like to submit academic research through us to NIH. I know as long as
we divulge and manage any conflict of interest issues, and dissuade him
from any projects that have what appears to be an unmanageable conflict
of interest, we should be okay with him as an investigator. What I'm
struggling with is how much time is appropriate for this person to work
on grants? He has a full time job already. I'm thinking maybe 5% to
10% total would be okay, but anything above that seems to be getting
into the questionable range.
Thoughts?
Thanks - janet
