Kaiser Permanente Colorado Institute for Health Research (IHR; on the Internet at http://www.kpco-ihr.org/) seeks applicants for a Sponsored Projects Administrator position. The Kaiser Permanente Colorado IHR is located in Denver, Colorado and includes 15 investigators and a staff of 116. The mission of the IHR is to conduct research that can be translated into clinical practice, health promotion, and policies to improve the health of individuals and populations. In 2009, the IHR was awarded more than $14.5 million in funding for research that included health services, epidemiology, dissemination and implementation studies, cardiovascular, cancer, and behavioral studies, health communication, and clinical trials. Much of the IHR research support is awarded from the National Institutes of Health.
Position Summary:
Coordinates research grant & contract submissions for KP Colorado KPCO region. Assists in negotiation & coordination of legal agreements w/ universities, pharmaceutical companies, & foundations. Responsible for partnering w/ KPCO Principle Investigators to ensure proper Grants & Contracts management & compliance. Acts as Research Administrative advisory & support to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the protection of human subjects & the Research Review Committee (RRC), assuring compliance w/ federal & KPCO regulations. Maintains & supports a culture of compliance, ethics & integrity. Maintains knowledge of policies & procedures & performs in accordance w/ the Principles of Responsibilities & applicable regulatory requirements, external laws & accreditation standards. Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse.
Essential Functions:
• Acts as liaison to administrative offices of federal, state & private funding agencies for development of subcontract arrangements & submission of contract deliverables
• Edits, negotiates, & prepares legal agreements between KPCO & various universities, pharmaceutical companies, & foundations; ensures that budgets are appropriate
• Provides consultation to KPCO researchers regarding research proposal development, submission & execution
• Reviews, coordinates, & submits all externally-funded research proposals from KPCO Investigators to the appropriate funding agencies
• Partners w/ KPCO Principle Investigators to ensure adherence to governmental & KPCO regulations governing the administration of grants & contracts
• Is primary Contracts & Grants lead for Subrecipient Monitoring program & annual federal A-133 audit
• In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the KP Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives
• Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors
Basic Qualifications:
• A minimum of 2 years of research administration
• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in business or related field
• Proficiency in computer word processing, spreadsheet, & database program
• Excellent time management & interpersonal skills required
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree preferred
Starting salary range: $50K - $76K DOE plus excellent benefits package
