GRANT SPECIALIST Kansas State University is seeking qualified applicants for a Grant Specialist in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, Preaward Services. Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President for Research/Director of Preaward Services, this position has responsibility and involvement in the many aspects of Preaward grant and contract administration, including assisting faculty in the preparation and processing of proposals for extramural support, generalized budget development, ensure and/or check compliance with agency and institutional policies; review, draft and negotiate, along with acceptance of terms and conditions of grant awards, contracts, subcontracts, and agreements; develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge and expertise of federal/ state/ private agency regulations and policies, and stay current with new laws and OMB circulars which affect sponsored program activities. The position potentially consults with department heads, deans, attorneys, departmental staff members, individual faculty, and administrators from various campus units. Depending on the incumbent’s proven competence, occasionally may serve as a University representative to funding agencies. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in research administration, preferably in an academic setting, along with demonstrated experience and proficiency in a computerized environment using Microsoft Office Products, Adobe Acrobat, and optimally federal electronic commerce software. A Bachelors degree is required and two years of related experience in grant and contract administration is highly preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a highly developed work ethic are essential. Candidates should have the ability to execute multiple demands individually and as part of a cohesive team; skills in problem solving; and the ability to consider multiple alternatives.
