Re: Kirschstein predoctoral tuition

Dear Colleagues,
I have a fairly simply question about T32 grants (I hope):
We were awarded a certain amount of money to cover tuition and fees for 6
predoctoral trainees under a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service
Award Institutional Research Training Grant (T32). Is there a limit on how
much money each predoctoral trainee can receive for tuition? Do we divide
the tuition/fees award by 6 and cap each student's tuition at this amount,
or can we spend various amounts on the different trainees as long as we
don't overspend the total allotment? The reason I ask is that some of our
older students are taking only a few credit hours and are spending very
little on tuition, while the newer students are taking many more credits and
spending much more. I've been given apposing advice on this topic and want
to make sure I am following the rules correctly.
By the way, our original award was made in 2005, so we are still under the
"old" rules for Tuition, Fees, and Health Insurance.
Thank you for your help!
Dorothy
