Cornell University is seeking an experienced contract negotiator to
execute University contract, grants, and other agreements, particularly
those with industry and other non-government sponsors. The Senior
Contracts Administrator is a senior member of the Office of Sponsored
Programs at Cornell, and will represent the institution in negotiation
of agreement terms to support complex, interdisciplinary, and novel
research and other sponsored activities. This individual will lead
development of contractual strategies and options that facilitate the
ability of Cornell researchers to obtain industrial and other sponsor
funds while upholding the institution's principles, policies, and goals,
and following government regulatory requirements. The individual will
serve as an expert in assessing and advising faculty, department
administrators, and sponsored programs staff on complex issues regarding
intellectual property, export controls, and establishing successful
university-industry partnerships.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years experience in industry contract and
agreement negotiation, execution, and management in a university or
corporate environment required; JD, PhD or other advanced degree with 8
years of progressively complex and responsible experience preferred.
Proven in-depth understanding of intellectual property and contract law,
extensive knowledge of grant and contract methods and procedure
required. Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service
and proven effective and well-developed organizational, analytical,
problem-solving, and communication skills also required. Knowledge of
export control policies, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Code of
Federal Regulations, Office of Management and Budget Circulars (A-21,
A-110, and A-133) is preferred.
