Re: Funding Opportunity Sources Pratt, Esther 23 Jul 2009 10:37 EST
WSU Office of Research subscribes to Community of Science (COS) Funding database for all of our faculty, staff and students (www.cos.com). I find it very thorough and extremely useful for targeted funding opportunity dispersal to our faculty. It also has great administrative tools. Benefits: -Personalized targeted funding searches (and email alerts) can be created by or for each individual -Admin tools allow me to monitor the types and number of results received (& offer assistance when necessary) -Opportunities are all in the same format (easy to find critical information) -Yearly opportunities stay in the system (even if current RFA has not been released) -Admin tools allow easy email sharing of searches, download options for e-newsletters. -Facilitates identification of limited submission opportunities -The opportunity is very comprehensive and quite accurate - includes federal, non-federal, private, international, foundation, corporate opportunities. Downside: -Opportunities are listed on COS about a week later than grants.gov -COS does not catch as many of our state and local opportunities (it does catch some) -Hard to get all the faculty to take the time to create their searches (and thus receive a weekly funding alert email) Esther Pratt Faculty Research Development Specialist Office of Grant & Research Development Washington State University xxxxxx@wsu.edu -----Original Message----- From: Research Administration List [mailto:xxxxxx@hrinet.org] On Behalf Of Ann Laura Walker Sent: Wednesday, July 22, 2009 11:20 AM To: xxxxxx@hrinet.org Subject: [RESADM-L] Funding Opportunity Sources Good Muggy Afternoon, to all, I'm sure this has been discussed before but I am mentally assessing the merits of certain funding opportunity sources and publications and I was wondering if you can share with me what you like and do not like about the subscriptions you have? I am aware of a great many of them but I'm wondering if there are some I don't know of, perhaps?
