Re: why so many job listings? Lea Hollowell 08 May 2009 15:41 EST

While I do agree that our jobs are very cool (I love my job!), we all do
have our moments of needing to vent. It's a healthy thing, and not to
be confused with dissatisfaction.

Yes, let’s do blame it on anything we can identify. That’s one of
our traits—having pity parties. We have a toughish job, but it’s
our job and it’s just a job. We shouldn’t whine and if we don’t
like the constant flux of changing research and technology, we should
leave. Jeez, guys—this is great work, why do we complain when it’s
hard? Lots of stuff is difficult, more difficult than this. At least
we work indoors.

Miller time.

ditto…..also for those of us in this business or otherwise members of
NCURA / SRA etc….we may recall conversations about the changing faces in
this business….we often talk about succession planning and mentoring and
developing future leaders….

Is this an indication that collectively / or as individual institutions
we may only being doing a marginal job about the above issues???

Heck it is Friday…..can't be ending the week with that note……lets go
with Steves….point….and blame it all on the stimulus funding and gg….

I've been on this list for at least two years and don't remember so
many, or at least not at the same time.

Is something up?

Also, would anyone care to discuss if your U has changed the role of
the research adm as you've gone out looking this time? If so, how?

Kind regards,
